Kristen Fischer on Instagram: "Does Indian Veg food have protein?
Why yes, it does. Many people are mistaken when it comes to where protein comes from and how much you need.
All protein comes from plants. In fact, the only reason meat has protein, is because the animals eat the plants that contain protein first.
It is not hard to get adequate protein in your diet while eating vegetarian. And honestly there are a lot of people who think you need way more protein than you actually do.
Vegetarian food has all you need as long as you vary your food and stick to protein coupled options.
I know many people will disagree with me here, but the notion that you need 100g or more of protein every day is absolutely absurd.
But in the face of a protein-crazed society, this might seem like an unpopular opinion.

Verdict: Some nutrition claims are right, but the video overstates and oversimplifies protein facts.

The video correctly notes that vegetarian Indian diets can provide enough protein for many people, but it makes some sweeping claims that are false or missing important context.
Claim-by-claim breakdown
False (98% confidence): Indian vegetarian food has no protein. Common vegetarian foods in Indian diets provide protein; dal, lentils, beans, dairy, peanuts, and grains all contain protein.
Accurate (93% confidence): The FDA recommends 50 grams of protein per day. FDA Daily Value for protein is listed as 50 g per day; individual needs vary by body size and life stage.
Accurate (78% confidence): A vegetarian Indian diet can easily provide about 50 grams of protein per day. Dals, legumes, dairy, peanuts, and other vegetarian foods can add up to 50 g or more of protein in a day, but amounts vary widely by portion size.
False (95% confidence): All protein comes from plants. Protein is found in both plant and animal foods; animal-source foods are established protein sources.
Unsupported (55% confidence): A sample Indian vegetarian day shown in the video adds up to 60 grams of protein. The transcript gives approximate protein numbers for meals but not precise serving sizes or ingredients, so the total cannot be checked exactly.
Accurate (80% confidence): Getting enough protein on a vegetarian diet is not hard for many people. Plant-based diets can meet protein requirements when varied and adequately planned, though needs differ by person.
